Airlines:E-tickets in the offing in Vietnam Vietnamese carriers Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines are planning to introduce electronic ticketing as early as this quarter, VietNamNet website has reported. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) had told Vietnam Airlines there would a complete conversion to e-ticketing by the end of 2007. From 2008, hard-copy tickets will no longer exist within IATA's billing and settlement plan, a system for computerised processing of accounts between agents and airlines on a country-by-country basis. Trinh Hong Quang, of Vietnam Airlines' marketing division said airlines saved significant sums by issuing e-tickets instead of hard-copy tickets, the website reported. He said Vietnam Airlines may begin selling e-tickets for Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City flights this quarter, and then on flights from Hanoi to Da Nang by the end of the year.
