Dream Hotel to awaken Bangkok this month

New York-based boutique Dream Hotel, is opening its first overseas branch this month on Sukhumvit Soi 15
The hotel is part of "Hautel Couture", an independent hotel group of luxury hotels worth an estimated $380 million. The Dream Hotel in Manhattan is its flagship. The Bangkok hotel will boast 100 rooms, including 21 suites, all of which are eclectically decorated. It has a lounge with a cigar bar and even a few pet-friendly rooms for those who can't take a trip without Fifi. The company bills the Dream Bangkok as "the funk of East meets West with look, feel and taste". And it was partially revealed for the first time in a recent Tata Young music video, said a hotel spokesman. Dream is the brainchild of Vikram Chatwal, an actor and New York socialite who's been spied partying with the likes of Paris Hilton and dated Kate Moss. His lavish wedding a few months ago in India was attended by former US president Bill Clinton, steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and India's prime minister, Manmohan Singh. The flashy hotel features indigo-blue corridors and rooms with plasma televisions, iPods, DVD players and WiFi connections along with special lighting that seeps out from under the bed. Chatwal was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and raised in Montreal, London and New York. He has a finance degree from the Wharton School of Business and began his career as an analyst at Morgan Stanley in New York City. He plans to open another Dream Hotel in London in the next two years.
