Queen asks the nation for 'love and unity'

In her National Mother's Day message, Her Majesty the Queen is this year encouraging people to wear yellow to show their love for His Majesty the King and for the country by staying united.

The slogan goes on to say that such love will allow the country to survive.

Her Majesty's birthday on August 12 is officially recognised as National Mother's Day.

Spouses of Cabinet members are now preparing activities in honour of Her Majesty.

Anongwan Thepsuthin, wife of caretaker Labour Minister Somsak Thepsuthin, said the highlight would be a performance of classical Thai Khon masked dance at the Sala Chalermkrung Theatre in Bangkok on August 19.

"All proceeds from the performance will be presented to Her Majesty," Anongwan said.
