Thailand gives Lebanon Bt6 million for humanitarian assistance

Thailand will donate Bt6 million for humanitarian assistance to war-torn Lebanon through Red Cross organisations.

Foreign Ministry said the money would be given to the International Committee of the Red Cross for the Lebanese people "who are suffering from the current crisis and violence in the region."

It said the amount was in response to appeals by the United Nations and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to help address emergency needs of the victims.

Thailand also reiterated its call for all parties concerned to exercise restraint and to protect innocent civilians.

"Thailand wishes to see an early and sustainable resolution to the current conflict, taking into account the interests of all the parties involved, along with the pursuit of immediate measures to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy that is currently unfolding," it said.
