South hit by 70 attacks

About 70 incidents of violence occurred last night in the four southernmost provinces in what authorities believe to be another terror campaign by Muslim
insurgents.
The incidents took place at about the same time in Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla, where bombs were thrown into state offices and civilian residential areas, tyre spikes were planted on many roads and tyres were burned. A patrolling soldier was injured when a bomb exploded in front of the Chuab Tambon Administration Organisation (TAO) in Narathiwat's Joh-I-Rong sub-district. A Buddhist temple in Rusoh district and the Bacho Police Station were also bombed, but no one was injured. In Pattani's Yarang, Muang and Nong Chik districts police residences, mini marts, cars and phone booths were burned. Police could not get to some of the sites due to burning tyres and spikes the insurgents put on roads. In Yala, a school in Bunnang Sata district, residential areas in Than To district and the Krong Pinang TAO were all targets of bombs, while tyres were left burning on roads in Raman district. - The Nation
