NEW GADGETS
Versatile speaker

The egg-shaped DN-USP301 is more than just a USB speaker - it's a USB hub and card-reader, too.

The unit splits into two, revealing the two speakers, which connect to an audio source via mini stereo input, or you can connect it via USB to your PC to be used as a USB speaker. The speakers measure 5cms

in diameter and the amplifier has an output of 2W x 2ch. The unit also has two USB 2.0 ports so you can use it as a USB Hub too. Last but

not the least, the DN-USP301 can also access Compact Flash, Memory Sticks and SD Memory cards. This multifunctional device is compatible with Windows 2000/XP only - sorry Mac users. For more information, visit www.generationmp3.com.

MP3 player

LG has launched its new Flash-based MP3 player, the MFFM20, which sports a post-Rio-inspired design. The MFFM20 has PlayForSure support for online stores such as Napster, along with FM radio and 20 hours of

battery life. It is available in 512MB and 1GB versions and has an interesting

feature called "Music Therapy", which also appears on the 8GB MFJM53. For more details, visit www.lge.co.uk.

Tough camera

Sanyo's new Xacti CA6 camera is sure to pamper your hobby in photography and will make it more hip and stylish. Apart from its tough looks, don't expect this camera to possess high-end or novel features. The rugged camera is designed especially for water resistance and lays emphasis on ergonomics. So you can even take this trendy camera to the beach without the worry of damaging it. But don't go overboard and take it when you go scuba diving. The camera's unique design gives you one-hand control over the camera and comes complete with features like 6-megapixel sensor, MPEG 4 video recording up to a resolution of 640x480 pixels, and a SD/SDHC memory card slot. For more information, visit www.letsgodigital.org.

Gun crazy

Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six: Lockdown" is a modern tactical shooter game, which is really fun and features great graphics. Players take the role of the squad leader in an elite counter-terrorist force called Rainbow. Each of the game's 16 single-player missions begins with a nicely presented briefing scene where a player gets briefed on the situation, receives some maps of objectives, and visits an equipment set-up screen to select a four-man team. "Lockdown" includes a great variety of assault rifles, submachine guns, combat shotguns and pistols, many of which are based on real guns such as Kalashnikovs, MP5s and Desert Eagles. The game is distributed in Thailand by New Era Interactive Media on one DVD with a suggested retail price of Bt750. Its street price could be as low as Bt550.
