Chuwit in rumpus after EC jailing

The Criminal Court yesterday cited a politician and a lawyer for contempt of court after disturbances following the jailing of three election commissioners on Tuesday.
A Chat Thai Party deputy leader and a lawyer representing the prime minister have been ordered to appear next week.Politician Chuwit Kamolvisit and Thana Benjathikul, a lawyer who represents Thaksin, will be asked to explain their actions following the verdict. "The court is also preparing to summons 16 individuals seen in television news clips staging a commotion on the day the verdict was handed down," court clerk Than Boonyatulanont said. The court will question Chuwit about bringing food and drink for the jailed trio and quarrelling with their supporters outside the court building, Than said. The court will ask Thana to explain a verbal attack on both the verdict and a decision to deny the men bail pending appeal. If convicted, Chuwit and Thana face between one and seven years in jail and a maximum fine of Bt14,000. Than said police were looking for the other six men and 10 women.
