Ministry approves a 13-per-cent price hike for Panasonic batteries

The Commerce Ministry yesterday gave the green light to Panasonic to raise its retail battery prices 13 per cent.
Caretaker Deputy Commerce Minister Preecha Laohapongchana said the Internal Trade Department gave its nod after the company had sought permission to up its price 30 per cent since 2004. He said the department decided to consent to the company's request, fearing that battery plants might relocate elsewhere. Proctor and Gamble Trading (Thailand) has also asked for approval to increase prices for its beauty products 2-3 per cent, due to higher costs. But the ministry has not yet approved price hikes for other products besides soft drinks and batteries.
Honda exports are right on track Asian Honda Motor's first-half exports climbed 22 per cent to Bt40.68 billion, senior vice president Adisak Rohitasune said yesterday. Exports are on target to reach the forecast of Bt85.32 billion for the whole year, up 31 per cent from last year.
Ocean Property opens swank condo Ocean Property has responded to the strong demand for condominiums in central Bangkok by opening its O2 HIP Condominium in the prime Nai Lert area, near the British Embassy. The exclusive project has only 48 units available, with prices starting at about Bt4 million. President Nusara Banyatpiyaphod said yesterday the project value was Bt400 million.
