Abusive fans to be punished

The Criminal Court will take legal action against supporters of the three election commissioners for making derogatory comments about the court ruling, a source said yesterday.

More than 100 supporters of Election Commission chairman Vasana Puemlarp and fellow commissioners Prinya Nakchudtree and Virachai Naewboonnien gathered at the court on Tuesday when the verdict was read out. Some were caught on TV making abusive remarks.

A fact-finding team set up by the court's chief justice, Amnuay Thantara, studied TV recordings and found that many of the EC supporters were in contempt of court, a source said. The chief justice later instructed court officials to file a police complaint against offenders.
