Samui land scrutinised

The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is preparing to rescind rights documents for at least 96 rai of land that forms part of a large property development on Koh Samui, according to the environment minister.

"It is clear the documents were obtained illegitimately," Natural Resources and Environment Minister Yongyuth Tiyapairat said yesterday.

However, an investigation showed "The Peak" project legitimately held more than 400 rai of land, he said.

The minister said he would visit the island next week to investigate alleged encroachment. He said the Land and Royal Forestry departments would take action against wrongdoers. Land plots would be re-measured and re-demarcated, Yongyuth said.
