Japanese briefing for SMEs

A live videoconference, "Marketing Strategy for Exporting Products", will be held next month to teach small and medium-sized enterprises and One Tambon One Product entrepreneurs about trends in and the demands of the Japanese market.

The seminar, to be coordinated in Thailand by the Department of Industrial Promotion and the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) and in Japan by the Kensai Economic Federation, will take place on August 13.

The live seminar will link together Japanese buyers in Osaka and Thai officials and producers in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Topics to be covered include the current situation of Japanese society and the economy, planning for marketing strategy and the possibility of selling Thai products in the Japanese market.

"The Japanese market is one of the most difficult for Thai entrepreneurs to respond to, in terms of design, trends and quality. This seminar will serve as a useful stage for Thai producers to learn the actual demands of that market," said Weeranun Nildanuwong, director of the Industrial Promotion Centre, Region 1.

He said that if the videoconference turned out to be a success, more would be held with other country partners and possibly expanded to include other parts of the Kingdom.

Only 36 entrepreneurs manufacturing three types of products - fashion, food and handicrafts - and hoping to break into the Japanese market will be accepted to attend the seminar. All participants will receive a certificate from AOTS afterwards.

The Chiang Mai seminar will be held at the Hirunyikar Room in the Industrial Promotion Centre, Region 1 on Thung Hotel Road in Muang district. For more information, please call (053) 266 489 ext 5001 or (053) 245 612 ext 530.
