BMA opens shop at Siam BTS

Lost your ID card? And find it difficult to get a replacement in office hours?
Now, people can stop by at the Siam Square Skytrain station and get service. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) yesterday opened its first "BMA Express Service" shop - aimed at providing census registration services outside normal office hours - at the BTS station in the city centre. The service centre will be open from 9am to 8pm every day, even on weekends and public holidays. It will issue new ID cards, renew old cards, transcribe home registration forms, and provide information to tourists. The service has been set up for people who do not have time to go to the BMA offices on weekdays during working hours, Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said. Aside from convenient hours, people should also get quick service. To get a new ID card, for example, should take no longer than 15 minutes, Deputy Bangkok Governor Panitch Wikitseth said. Another two BMA Express outlets are planned to open soon at Mor Chit and Phrom Phong stations to handle the expected high demand for service, Apirak said. Analysts, however, have suggested the centre opening has been timed to help the Democrat Party win votes in the Bangkok Council election this Sunday. - the nation
