Samart expecting to 'reap' Bt70m

Samart Multimedia, renamed from Samart Info Media, expects its marketing blitz this year to boost revenues from its mobile content business to Bt600 million, from Bt530 million last year.
Watchai Vilailuck, president of Samart Corp, expressed confidence yesterday that the subsidiary would capture Bt600 million of the mobile multimedia market of Bt2.8 billion this year. About 70 per cent of Samart Multimedia's forecast revenue will come from its 1900 Audiotext telephone-based information service, while 30 per cent will come from its famous Bug 1113 directory service and the remainder from its wireless application service. Audiotext offers a variety of entertainment information services such as fortune-telling and downloads of content to mobile phones, while Bug 1113 provides telephone-based directory information. Wireless content on the World Cup contributed about Bt50 million in revenue to the company during the tournament that ended this month. The Bug 1113 database is being expanded, while broadband Internet and wireless content will be developed as new revenue sources. Samart Corp's businesses range from satellite dishes, IT solutions and handsets to energy supply.
