Eurozone industrial output bounces back in May

Brussels - Eurozone industrial output bounced back in May from a slump in April, growing 1.6 per cent over one month and 4.9 per cent over one year, according to the EU's Eurostat data agency on Monday.
The figures were stronger than private economists had expected, beating their forecasts for an increase of 1.3 per cent over one month and 4.0 per cent over one year.
They also showed a snap-back from April when the output of eurozone industry slipped 0.7 per cent over one month and rose 1.7 per cent over one year.
In the 25-nation European Union, industrial output grew 1.2 per cent in May over one month and 4.7 per cent over one year.
