Metech International buys recycling facility

Metech International, a leader in environmentally responsible recycling and asset recovery for electronic equipment, announced last week the acquisition of a recycling facility at Bang Pa-In Hi-Tech Industrial Park in Ayutthaya.
The 3,000-square-metre, high-security facility is specifically designed for de-manufacturing and certified destruction of materials and systems from the electronics industry. President Sam Advani said that the company continued to provide its international customers with the best, most secure recycling services. He added that this facility would support its clients in the region, particularly those with operations in Thailand. The company's commitment is to establish facilities and strategic partnerships worldwide that provide its customers with a local, one-stop recycling solutions using the same accountable processes that Metech is known for in North America, he said. The company can support its global customers internationally with a single supplier to handle their e-scrap for complete, documented and environmentally correct disposal, he added. The facility has been given the go-ahead by the Ministry of Industry and is preparing for ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certification. Metech Thailand further extends the reach of Metech's Accountable Resource Management (ARM). This programme, the only one of its kind in the electronics-recycling industry, assures customers complete product stewardship through step-by-step tracking and accountability for all material-handling. Advani added that this was a critical issue in the face of growing global concerns about "cradle-to-grave" environmental responsibility and information security. ARM protocols provide an ac-countable service platform for Metech's multinational customers, he said. Metech International, a pioneer in asset reuse and precious-metal recovery, specialises in environmentally responsible, accountable recycling and reuse of industrial manufacturing scrap, obsolete inventory and end-of-life electronics. Metech serves customers in the automotive, electrical and electronic, jewellery and metal-processing industries and offers computer and cell-phone recycling programmes for disposal of consumer electronics. Metech International has facilities in Worcester, Massachusetts, Gilroy and La Habra, California, Penang, Malaysia, and Bangkok, as well as recycling partnerships in the Philippines, Singapore, China and the UK.
