All Thais in Lebanon and Israel remained safe while Thai Embassies in Riyadh and Tel Aviv are prepared to evacuate Thais if needed be, The Foreign Ministry spokesman said Sunday.
There is no Thai Embassy in Lebanon. The Thai Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is taking care of the welfare of Thais there. "The embassies are in touch with Thais in Lebanon. As of now, we have asked them to relocate to a safe area, such as a Christian Lebanese community which is not the target of the attack," said Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Kitti Wasinondh. The embassies are also preparing for transportation in case of evacuation which will be on ground, said Kitti. He added that the airport in Lebanon was attacked and no airplane is operating now. If needed be, the Foreign Ministry is ready to send a special plane to take all Thais back home. Currently there are approximately 100 Thais living in Lebanon, most of which are goldsmiths and chefs while four are executive officers in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). In Israel, there are about 25,000 Thais, 150 of which are students. Since July 12, Israel has continuously attacked Lebanon after two Israeli soldiers were kept hostage by Lebanon's Shiite militant group Hezbollah. The Nation
