Bt7-bn pay-out for civil servants

The Finance Ministry yesterday approved Bt7 billion in annual bonuses for all civil servants.

Regulations on the new bonus plan for state officials are ready for immediate implementation, with each government unit given the leeway to adapt them to employees' performance indexes.

The bonus now comes in two parts - standard and merit-based.

The first part will be paid at a uniform rate to all, while the second is dependent on the results of individuals' performance evaluations.

Staff in the Finance Ministry's Revenue Department staff will enjoy the biggest bonuses in reward for their performance in meeting the tax collection target.

Staff at director level there will receive about Bt10,000.
