Ministry to peddle Kingdom's fruit and herbs in New Zealand road show
The Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry is conducting a road show in New Zealand to promote Thai fruits and herbs, particularly lychee, longan, mangosteen, durian and fresh ginger.Caretaker Agriculture Minister Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan said the products would be displayed at the "Thailand Exotic Fruits Festival" which will be organised this weekend in Auckland. The ministry will also present various kinds of processed agricultural goods and Thai silk products. Sudarat said the government also aims to promote the country's "Q-Mark", a hygiene standard certification, among New Zealand's importers and consumers. A business matching forum will allow Thai exporters to meet with importers in New Zealand. Farm goods exported to New Zealand generate an average of Bt20 billion in foreign exchange each year. Total export value reached Bt7.06 billion during the first five months of this year, while imports from New Zealand were recorded at Bt4.19 billion. Film Industry: Pongsaap cancels copyright contract Pongsaap (formerly Mangpong) Plc yesterday informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that it would terminate the Permission Contract to use copyrighted works with Sahamongkol Film International Plc in July this year. The company said the reason for the termination was mainly to cut costs amid the economic slowdown in the wake of rising oil prices, high interest rates and political turmoil. Moreover, the problem of intellectual-property rights violations had significantly magnified, causing detriment to the company's business.
