Daughter of 'Kamnan Poh' battles Amlo for property

The daughter of Chon Buri godfather Somchai "Kamnan Poh" Kunplome yesterday filed another lawsuit against Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo) acting secretary-general Yutthabul Dissamarn at the coastal town's court for allegedly seizing property worth Bt30 million without authority.
The seizure of Jiraporn Kunplome's property was connected to the corruption charges concerning the purchase of 140 rai of land in Bang Lamung district's Khao Mai Kaew tambon worth Bt93.52 million. The land was due to be used for rubbish landfill. Somchai was given a sentence of three years and four months. Lawyer Chamnan Chadith said Amlo seized Jiraporn's property although the corruption charges involved Somchai, not his daughter. She was not a defendant in the case and by seizing her property, Yutthabul had outstretched his authority, Chamnan said. Documentation revealed Yutthabul was not a member of the Amlo transaction committee and thus had no authority to sign a property-seizing order. Moreover, Yutthabul could not use his post to claim the authority as his powers had not been formalised because Parliament was not in session. He had, therefore, seized the property without authority, Chamnan said. The court found the case had grounds and accepted it, calling Yutthabul to testify on August 30 at 9am. A preliminary hearing for a similar lawsuit filed by Jiraporn against Yutthabul at Bangkok's Criminal Court would be held on Monday, Chamnan said.
