Flood and landslide warnings for North, South

Residents in several provinces in the North and South have been warned over floods and landslides.
The weather bureau yesterday forecast downpours for several days in many provinces along the Burmese border. Trang, Satun, Phatthalung and Mae Hong Son residents were told to be ready for flash floods. Five districts in Tak - Mae Ramat, Tha Song Yang, Mae Sot, Phop Phra and Umphang - are at the highest risk as they are due to be hit first when a depression sweeps down from China. Yesterday's morning rainfall was measured at 57mm in the region and over 100mm more is expected in coming days. Meanwhile, the Mineral Resources Department issued a warning for people living near hills to watch out for landslides. Mae Hong Son, Tak, Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Lampang in the North and Chumphon, Ranong, Trang, Phang-nga, Satun, Krabi, Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat in the South were asked to monitor undulating ground and contact local authorities in case of a crisis. Satun Governor Manit Wattanasen said he ordered local disaster officials to be watchful as several districts had been flooded over the past two days.
