Election case 'good to go'

The Constitution Court will likely agree to hear allegations of electoral fraud that could lead to the dissolution of five political parties, a court source said yesterday.
A Constitution Court judge said the case had been properly prepared and processed by both the Election Commission (EC) and the Attorney-General. The court will officially consider if the case had been properly submitted, he said. The court should be able to reach a decision before the next general election, tentatively scheduled for October 15. "If the evidence submitted by the EC and the Attorney-General is sufficient, the court should be able to consider and rule on the case without the need for an open trial as requested by the Democrat Party," he said. The Attorney-General submitted writs against five political parties, including the Thai Rak Thai and Democrats for alleged violation of the Political Parties Act.
