Barrister echoes King in appeal for an end to greed

Chai Pattana Foundation secretary-general Sumet Tantivejkul yesterday called on barristers to follow in the footsteps of His Majesty the King. His Majesty established the foundation to provide support for development projects around the country.
Sumet was addressing an ethical training session for barristers. "It is time to embrace the sufficiency economy and live according to its virtues," Sumet said. He warned people not to be led astray by globalisation and to never allow economic liberalism to encourage greed or corruption. "Be honest and patient. Learn how to give and how to live with righteousness," he said. Sumet said all people should stand by their actions if they knew what they had done was right. "I have been lambasted by people who were paid to do so but I am confident that I am doing the right thing and I will not be swayed by their actions," he said.
