IT INDUSTRY :Firms donate software to universities

Sagitate (Thailand) Co Ltd has joined Invensys Wonderware Corp to donate industrial automation software worth up to Bt100 million to 10 public universities.
The two firms will also aid in the development of IT curricula for the institutes. Managing director Somkiat Sintujai said yesterday that this support should increase human resources in the field, to meet the growing industry. The 10 schools are Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Thammasat University, King Mongkut's University of Technology Lat Krabang, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thon Buri, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi, Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, Silpakorn University and Pathum Wan University of Technology.
WORLD CUP WINDFALL : Lufthansa cashes in on returning flyers Homebound traffic the day after the World Cup final is boosting Lufthansa's passenger numbers to record levels, the airline's station manager in Berlin said yesterday. Stephan Weinmann said the airline expected as many as 11,000 departing passengers once the figures were analysed. He called that almost double the number on a normal Monday, which he said was traditionally the busiest day of the week.
