Phuket polls

By-elections are to be held to fill two positions in the Phuket Provincial Council after one member resigned and another died.

The first by-election will be held on July 22 in the Kathu area in District 2. The 17 polling stations will be open from 8am to 3pm. The member for this constituency, Boonma Eabsub, resigned on June 1.

Two candidates will run in the election to replace him: Rerngchai Akkrapongsakul and Charnsak Phummak.

The second by-election is for the Yaowarat Road area in District 1 and will take place on August 5. This by-election follows the death of Prinya Siamharn on June 9. There will be 13 polling stations, which will be open from 8am to 3pm.

Somkuan Tansakul, Wongwara Sa-nguansak and Wisut Tangwittayaporn are standing for election for this constituency.

All the candidates in both by-elections have registered as independents.
