Two protesters come down from monument

Two of three protesters agreed to climb down from the Democracy Monument on Monday after spending a night on the top of the monument in protest at the political impasse in the country.

The three men, who said they were members of a group called Democracy Dissemination, climbed the Democracy Monument Sunday evening and remained there through Monday morning.

One of the protesters dressed in resemble to old-time executioner.

They demanded the authorities dissolve existing political parties and set up new parties more representative of the Thai people.

After an hour-long negotiation on Sunday night, police allowed them to spend a night on the monument as they promised to end their strike on Monday noon.

However only two of them climbed down from the monument while the third refused to meet the promise. Police were worried that he could possibly fall due to exhausting.
