Paradorn to play in Asiad

Chanachai Srichaphan has persuaded his son, Thailand's No 1 men's player Paradorn, to represent his country at this year's Asian Games after the local star previously announced he would not be playing in the region's biggest sporting event.

Chanachai said he had talked with the Asian Games gold medal winner after it was widely reported that Paradorn would not be defending his title in December.

"I explained to him that he should play because he is the hope of the country and he has no tournaments during that time. He understood and agreed to play for the country again," said Chanachai. "He wanted to pave the way for younger players, but I told him the Asian Games is not a small event," said Chanachai.
