Suspects set upon in re-enactment

Police yesterday failed to protect two Burmese men from physical assault during the re-enactment of the brutal killing of the father of a police commander in Ubon Ratchathani.

The suspects - Chai or Lakaba, and Ann or Tuitui - were taken by police to the victim's home in the Bangkhen area after they confessed to slashing the throats of Pol Caption Anurak Sermsuwan and his personal nurse and housemate on July 3.

Anurak was the father of Colonel Pakorn, the police commander of Don Mod Daeng subdistrict.

Several angry relatives of the victims who were waiting at the house attacked and injured the pair, forcing the re-enactment to be suspended.

The suspects were sent back to Bangkhen Police Station.
