More fun at FantaSea

Phuket FantaSea theme park will add three new attractions this year - the Similan Entertainment Centre, Songbird Luminarie and Tiger Adventure Safari.

Chief executive officer, Kittikorn Kewkacha, said the Similan Entertainment Centre (in the park's Festival Village) would open July 14. The Centre will showcase the ocean world and feature games, novelty shops, and fast food restaurants.

The Songbird Luminarie is due to open in August. Hundreds of songbirds will be exhibited in front of a new "Palace Court", where visitors will enjoy bird-singing contests. Tiger Adventure Safari is scheduled to open by the end of this year and will exhibit rare animals such as white tigers, an albino python and white monkeys.

Phuket FantaSea is the island's biggest recreation park and is famous for its cultural shows.

The park suffered damage from the 2004 tsunami, and the number of visitors dropped as a result.

Revenue was Bt638 million in 2005, down by Bt407 million compared with 2004. For the first three months this year, revenue was Bt254 million, down Bt107 million on year.
