THAI plane turns back

A Thai Airways International flight with about 200 passengers on board made an emergency landing in Bangkok yesterday after the pilot found that a wheel could not be retracted.

The pilot of the plane, which was bound for Khon Kaen, decided to return to Bangkok to solve the problem with the landing gear's hydraulic system, said Winij Jinathongthai, director of Khon Kaen International Airport.

The flight eventually landed in Khon Kaen at 9.20am, nearly two hours late, he said.

The pilot made the correct decision, as Khon Kaen airport does not have the proper equipment to fix the problem, Winij said.
