Name of the game? Not sport

They are as pretty as a picture and rule the hearts of the men on the pitch. Meet WAGs - footballers' wives and girlfriends - whose fashion antics have turned the streets of Baden Baden into action-packed style arenas.
Being married to England's football team captain David Beckham, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham is no doubt the leader of the WAG pack. Rumour has it that she planned her World Cup wardrobe months in advance. Of course, she got help from a friends like Dolce and Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli, who naturally whipped up exclusive numbers just for Mrs B. Although this was almost a guarantee that there wouldn't be any major style slip-ups, Posh still managed to earn a few snide remarks in English newspapers about being "stuck in style rut" and being "climate-insensitive". The style-rut jab came from her being seen in cropped tops and hot pants or tiny skirts on too many occasions. (Shouldn't she realise by now that she's an inspiration to half the world's female population?) As for her insensitivity to climate - calf-length leather boots on a hot, sunny day in Germany? The next most celebrated member of the WAG gang is Ashley Cole's fiancée Cheryl Tweedy. With pop music background and an engagement ring from one of England's top players, this Girls Aloud singer is definitely a WAG royal in the making. As if trying to retrace Posh's footsteps, she too was seen in Mrs Beckham's trademark sunglasses, white shirt with shorts and a white handbag. On another occasion, she even imitated Posh's much-scorned look of leather boots with a see-through top and hot pants. Ah, talk about style. Jo Cole's fitness instructor girlfriend Carly Zucker also tops the list of WAG favourites. Hailed by the press as the "stunner" everyone wants to see, the 24-year-old favoured figure-hugging denims paired with cropped tops that show-off her super-toned midriff and beautiful tan. It seems Zucker prefers casual comfort over splashy designer labels. Hot on the not-so-favourite side was Wayne Rooney's better half, Coleen McLoughlin. Despite being named a fashion icon by British Vogue last year, many fashion journalists still doubt the shopaholic Liverpudlian's eclectic taste. But, determined not to be outdone by any of the other WAGs, McLoughlin is reported to have sent a friend back to England to bring back more clothes. Meanwhile, fellow Liverpudlian and wife of Steven Gerrard, Alex Curran also raised a few eyebrows and had tongues wagging over the what-not-wear discussion. A fashion columnist for the Daily Mirror herself, this mother-of-two was reported to have changed outfits as much as five times a day. Apart from this somewhat baffling exercise, she also confused people with her bizarre high-street finds to over-the-top designer gear.
