Paris chic, Bangkok-style

Though they weren't too flamboyant, the clothes on show at the opening of La Fête were at least very wearable
The fashions shown off during the opening ceremony of the third La Fête last week may not be comparable to the flamboyant displays one might expect from one of the world's style capitals, but the 60 pieces from four of France's foremost young designers were still inspiringly gorgeous. And better yet, very wearable. Created under the theme of "Parisian Chic", the show kicked off with the modest outfits of Feraud by JP Marty, whose subtly sexy creations combined the classic touches of haute couture marked with the simplicity of modern lines. The clothes are faithful to the spirit of the 60-year-old fashion house. Next came the saucy offerings from Fifi Chachnil. Her satin-and-lace lingerie conjured up an unmistakable sense of fun and femininity. The collection showed off Chachnil's flair for seductiveness and creativity, which has made her one of France's hottest fashion properties. The only way to define Katherine Pradeau's "ethnic-chic" collection is to call it bright and bold. She redefines Parisian elegance through her unique style of contrasting colours, textures and adding ethnic details. Closing the evening were cutting-edge and cosmopolitan outfits from Frederic Molenac. The bad boy of the French fashion circuit displayed his mastery in style by using thin, delicate leather and other unusual fabrics, before bringing the show to a perfect ending.
