Toshiba to build new Thai plant

Toshiba Corporation and Toshiba Semiconductor (Thailand) Co Ltd (TST) announced yesterday they would construct a new 2-billion Japanese yen (Bt600 million) semiconductor factory in the Bangkadi Industrial Park, some 35km north of Bangkok.
The new facility will boost Toshiba Group's back-end process capacity for production of small-signal devices and "opto" devices for Asian markets, according to the company statement. Demand is growing for the devices for consumer electronics equipment and mobile phones, especially in Asia. - The Nation.
Resort bought Destination Properties, a Bangkok-based real-estate investment and development firm, recently acquired the Kamala Bay Terrace in Phuket, which it plans to turn into a five-star boutique resort. Destination Properties plans to expand the number of rooms in the resort to 200 in the next 12 months. The first phase is scheduled to be completed by year end. Home sale a hit Plus Property Partner Co Ltd sold 13 property projects worth Bt1 billion during the three-day Living Plus 2006 event at Siam Paragon, the company's chief executive Matha Chanchamcharat said.
