HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
Senate to focus on anti-graft agency selection

The outgoing Senate will hold a special session today to appoint a committee to investigate the backgrounds and behaviour of the candidates for the National Counter Corruption Commission.
The anti-graft agency has been unable to fill its vacant seats since a group resignation last May. The outgoing Senate will also consider the proposal by the Supreme Administrative Court to appoint judge Udomsak Nitimontri to sit in the Constitution Court.
Decision on party 'fraud' tomorrow The Office of the Attorney General will decide tomorrow at 9.30am whether to forward the allegations of electoral fraud by the Thai Rak Thai Party to the Constitution Court. The Election Commission on Thursday endorsed charges that Thai Rak Thai committed major electoral fraud, leaving the party facing a real threat of being disbanded.
Witnesses to testify in case against EC From tomorrow to Friday, the Criminal Court will hear the plaintiff's witnesses in the case filed by Democrat Party deputy secretary-general Thaworn Senneam against Election Commission (EC) chairman Vasana Puemlarp and two commissioners, Prinya Nakchudtree and Virachai Naewboonnien, for allegedly holding an illegal election on April 23. The defendants' witnesses will testify from July 4 to 7. The commissioners are accused of helping the Thai Rak Thai Party by organising a by-election on April 23. Additional candidates were allowed to contest the votes, which enabled unsuccessful candidates to avoid the 20 per cent minimum vote rule.
Thai Rak Thai hopefuls to honour King On Tuesday, the Thai Rak Thai Party's potential candidates will join activities to honour His Majesty the King, including blood donation and preparation for 999 party members to enter the monkhood in honour of the King in July. They are also expected to discuss the political situation and election campaign on July 4. The Democrat Party's policy team will meet this week to discuss electoral strategies.
