'Moral' Prem, 'capable' PM top Abac poll

Most Bangkokians are worried by the political situation and want a person with high moral standards like Privy Council President Prem Tinsulanonda or a capable leader like Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to solve the problems, a survey has found.
The survey, carried out by Assumption University from Friday to yesterday, polled 1,143 people in greater Bangkok. Dr Noppadol Kannikar, director of the survey, said 41.3 per cent of respondents monitored political developments on a daily basis. Some 70.8 per cent of respondents were worried about the political situation, while 21.1 per cent were not. The rest had no comment. Asked if they thought there would be political stability in the next six months, 66.6 per cent said no, 24.1 per cent said yes and the rest had no comment. Ask to name the politician who made the best moral role model for the next premier, most respondents - 65.3 per cent - cited Prem. But Thaksin topped the list with 46.9 per cent when respondents were asked which politician made the best role model in terms of ability.
