Monk's amulet honours HM

Renowned Buddhist monk Luang Phor Khoon will produce his final amulet model to mark His Majesty the King's 80th birthday, a close aide said yesterday.
The monk will also present Bt100 million to the King and Queen and other members of the Royal family when they preside over a ceremony to launch the amulet next year, said Pairote Suwannachawee, a former MP.Luang Phor Khoon is now in Malaysia meeting Buddhists from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. He will give Bt40 million, donated by his followers since he arrived last week, to charity. Pairote said Luang Phor Khoon would not give permission for production of amulets to anyone. "His reverence will not attend any religious ceremonies to bless amulets produced on behalf of any individual or organisation," he added. The monk will turn 84 next year, an auspicious milestone marking the seventh cycle of the 12-year Thai horoscope period. His final amulet has been named the "Honouring His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday" model, but there are no details of how many will be produced or their price. Luang Phor Khoon will return to Thailand on a special Army flight at 1pm on Sunday. He will fly to Wing 1 Airbase in Nakhon Ratchasima province for a meeting with his followers before departing at 3.40pm by car to Wat Ban Rai, of which he is abbot, in Dan Khun Thod district. The ceremony next year will also mark the 12th year since the main chapel at Wat Ban Rai was inaugurated by Their Majesties.
