Pepsi aims high

Pepsi-Cola Thai Trading Co Ltd is spending Bt100 million to promote its "Pepsi Football 2006" campaign, which aims to achieve 10 per cent sales growth during the World Cup competition in Germany, according to the company's marketing director Charlee Jitjaroong. Pepsi is not an official sponsor of the cup and hence cannot use the World Cup's name in its ads.
With the aggressive marketing campaign, the company hopes the campaign will boost its share of the Thai cola market from 63.5 per cent last year's 63.5 per cent to 64 per cent this year, he said.
Dopod gets chief Dopod International Corp Pte Ltd, a provider of personal digital assistants (PDAs) and smart phones, has announced the appointment of Kevin Hou as managing director for Southeast Asia. In his new position, Hou will initiate strategies and programmes to position Dopod as one of the market leaders in the region's promising smart phone and PDA industry, especially in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. He will also focus on developing extensive cooperation channels and connections with partners and customers in the four countries.
