IN BRIEF
IEC seeks Israeli partners for Wi-Fi

IEC Business Partners, a Thai telecommunications company, is seeking partners in Israel to establish a Wi-Fi network to replace Thailand's cellular network, according to Haaretz newspaper.

"Telecom technologies in Israel are the most advanced", said CEO Chai Wattanasuwan. IEC employs 700 people and controls a chain of 165 stores selling cellular devices.

"Until now we sold devices and after the customer left the store, he left us. We want to keep him by supplying him also with cellular content," said Chai.

In order to set up a Wi-Fi cellular network, the Thais need technology partners and are looking for them in Israel. IEC officials spoke with the start-up Bamboo and have more meetings in the works.

IEC representatives also plan to meet with companies developing technologies for medical equipment.
