Siam Paragon and its sister shopping centre The Emporium have launched mid-year campaigns targeting foreigners: the "Paragon & Emporium Thai Pride" and the "Emporium Travel Paradiso".
The two marketing strategies have the goal of boosting second-quarter sales to Bt4.2 billion.Natsamon Vongkittipat, assistant chief marketing officer of Siam Paragon and The Emporium, said this year's focus would be the foreign market, with a public-private strategic alliance taking the lead. The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International, travel agents and well-known hotels and resorts are cooperating in the joint effort. As part of the Thailand Grand Invitation, Siam Paragon and The Emporium are offering privileges under the "Welcome Thai Airways Passengers" programme. THAI's premium-class passengers on all main routes will be given a 10-per-cent discount and economy-class passengers a 5-per-cent discount at Siam Paragon and The Emporium. A total of 100 travel agents in Bangkok will be selected to participate in the campaign. They stand to earn a commission of 5 per cent on purchases of goods made by tourists at regular prices and on set menus bought by tourists at the Park Food Hall in The Emporium and Food Hall Gallery in Siam Paragon. Purchases at the Wine Cellar, Food Hall, Food Court, Take Home, pharmacy, service shops and rented booths within the department store are not subject to commissioning. Paragon & Emporium Thai Pride will run from tomorrow to July 12. For every purchase of Bt1,000, shoppers can enter a contest for package tours to luxury resorts: The Chedi in Chiang Mai, Evason Phuket and Six Senses Spa in Phuket, Evason Hideaway and Six Senses Spa in Hua Hin, and Rayavadee in Krabi. The Emporium is supporting the government's policy of encouraging Thais and expatriates to travel locally and generate income within the country by hosting The Emporium Travel Paradiso from tomorrow to Monday. Marketing manager Intira Chanthong said the travel fair would showcase elegant lifestyles and sports vehicles for outdoor activities. Suchat Sritama The Nation
