OAG pursues ballot-ri ppers

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) will appeal the cases of people who tore up their ballots in the April 2 election to the Supreme Court, OAG spokesman Attaphol Yaisawang said yesterday.

On May 23, the Songkhla and Trang provincial courts rejected cases against voters who tore up their ballot papers to protest the controversial April 2 election on the grounds that the Constitution Court had nullified the April election as unconstitutional.

However, the attorney-general believes the tearing up of ballot papers was an illegal act regardless of the election's nullification, so the OAG will appeal the cases to the Supreme Court, Attaphol said.
