Nod for subway

The Cabinet yesterday endorsed the construction of three subway lines that are part of the proposed mass-transit mega-project for Bangkok. It said the dark red, light red and purple lines would go ahead, reasoning that the time-consuming project cannot wait for the formation of a new government.
Caretaker government spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee said a subway line takes four years to build, while an elevated line takes about three years."If we wait until the new government is formed, the project will be further delayed by six months," he said. The contractors will be selected through electronic auctions. - The Nation
