TRT denies website link

The Thai Rak Thai Party has nothing to do with the website www.taksinfanclub.com, which has strongly criticised the work of the courts, PM's Office Minister Suranand Vejjajiva said yesterday.

Suranand said the Information and Communications Technology Ministry would check to see if the website's content left it liable to charges, should anyone file a complaint.

Asked if any members of the Thai Rak Thai Party were involved with the website, Suranand insisted the party has only its official website, which is managed by the party's team of spokesmen. The www.taksinfanclub.com website has not been accessible since Monday.

Suranand said he had asked Thai Rak Thai deputy secretary-general Prommin Lertsuridej and the party's spokesmen to stop making political comments and giving press interviews. He said politicians should perform their duties in a creative, rather than a destructive, manner. By exchanging verbal attacks, he said, politicians only make politics dirty. He said politicians should try to be unified and stop quarrelling out of respect for the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne.

Democrat Party secretary-general Suthep Thuagsuban said his party would stop making political comments and launching counterattacks because of the royal celebrations. Political work will continue as usual after June 16, he said.

"Now we can only note who does what. Whether the Election Commission resigns or not, it's ok. Whether they resign sooner or later, we have to be patient because the King is the most important person in our lives," he said.
