Grand exhibition attracts Six million

More than six million people were expected to visit the 17-day Grand Exhibition of the King at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre, Muang Thong Thani, said Caretaker Government Spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee on Wednesday.
With over four million people having visited the exhibition from May 26 to June 7, Surapong said that the last five days would certainly reach beyond the targeted six million visitors to the exhibition that marks the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King's accession to the throne. From June 9 to 11, the public can place orders for a Bt299 book showing the grand exhibition's displays, or a Bt199 onehour CD showing the event in brief and an extended sixhour CD version, Surapong said. The proceeds after expenses will be presented to His Majesty and then spent on charitable activities. On June 9 at 7.19pm, the public are also invited to join a candle lit ceremony to express their well wishes to His Majesty in front of the Challenger 1 Building. Everyone is asked to wear a yellow shirt. On June 11 from 8.30pm to 9pm, Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra will preside over another candle lit ceremony and will be joined by Thai artists and the public at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre. He added that the government has now narrowed down the choices for the grand exhibition to be installed for the whole year in either the Agriculture Ministry's museum or within the compound of the Science and Technology Museum in Pathum Thani.
