Thai government declares June 9 as national holiday

The Cabinet have declared June 9 a national holiday to mark the 60 th anniversary of HM the King's accession to the Throne.
Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai said on Tuesday the cabinet has approved June 9 as a holiday in addition to to the holidays already declared on June 12 and 13 in Bangkok and the suburbs. HM the King will hold a public audience on Friday and the holiday would allow more people to attend the event at the Royal Plaza. Holidays in Bangkok were declared for Monday and Tuesday to ease the city's notorious traffic while royalty from 25 countries visit to take part in the anniversary celebrations. The Nation
