Four Thai boxers stormed into the quarter-finals of the World Amateur Muaythai Championships yesterday at the Mall Bang Kapi's MCC Hall.

Featherweight Satit Kaowprapai beat Baskakov Maksym of the Ukraine 3-2, and super lightweight Vuttirong Pramaree defeated France's Zatout Mchdi by the same score.

In the women's competition, Prakaydaw Pakmalee defeated Amy Davis of the United States in the 48-kg class, while Nutrujar Pradubmook outclassed Laha Zaharja Minodora of Romania in the 60-kg division.

Today is a rest day and the quarter-final round will continue tomorrow. - The Nation.

The Thai challenge in the US$250,000 (Bt9.5-million) Indonesia Open came to an end yesterday, with Saralee Thoungthongkam going down in the semifinals both in the women's doubles and mixed doubles.

World No-8 Saralee and Sathinee Chankrachangwong lost to Chinese Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen, current world No-39, 14-21 15-21.

Later, Saralee and Sudket Prapakamol lost to China's Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen 20-22 12-21 in the mixed doubles. - The Nation.
