Danai advances

Top seed Danai Udomchoke stayed on course to defend his title, producing a straight sets second round victory in the US$50,000 (Bt1.9 million) Busan Open yesterday. The reigning champion dismissed South Korean Jun Woong-sun 6-4 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals where he will face either Japan's Toshihide Matsui or American Todd Widom.

In Tianjin, top seed Tamarine Tanasugarn was knocked out of the US$25,000 Chinese Women's Circuit, falling to Xu Yi-fan of China 2-6 5-7. Tamarine will next start the season on grass, her favourite surface, beginning with a US$25,000 event in Surbiton next week.
