Knowing that football-mad Thais will be glued to their couches in the coming weeks watching the World Cup, McDonald's will offer them a 24-hour delivery service.
Thonghathai Kuvanont, senior marketing director of the local franchisee McThai Co Ltd, yesterday kicked off the campaign which runs to July 13. She said there was no minimum order, but that customers would be charged Bt20 for delivery. She declined to estimate how much the service would contribute to the company's sales. Since launching the service in 2002, the number of deliveries has grown to 30,000 per month. McThai's sales expanded 5 per cent last year from 2004 and are on course to grow 10 per cent, based on the performance in the first four months of the year, she said. The firm is spending 90 per cent of its advertising budget for the new delivery service on television. The rest will go to print ads, radio ads and outdoor advertising. Nitida Asawanipont The Nation
