Crack protection

A special weapons and tactics (SWAT) force has been established to provide security for the heads of state of all 26 countries visiting to mark His Majesty the King's 60th anniversary on the throne.
Each of the 26 teams of the SWAT 60 Division 1 force will provide personal security for one head of state. One team comprises two squads, each of which contains four non-commissioned officers and one officer. All team members have been recruited from elite police units operating as part of the Metropolitan Police Bureau. After the government-commissioned events, which end on June 23, the taskforce will remain active as an anti-terrorism unit tackling specific crimes at the discretion of the Royal Thai Police, said taskforce commander Colonel Chanthawit Rammasoot, a deputy chief of Metropolitan Police Division 1. The teams will undergo intensive drills and target practice from today until Monday, before the celebrations begin. Subsequently, they will undergo intensive training sessions twice a year.
