Supreme court judges snub Senate request

Supreme Court judges have shot down a request of caretaker Senate Speaker Suchon Chaleekrua for them to nominate four candidates to fill two vacant seats of the Election Commission.
Supreme Court Secretary Wirat Chinwinijkul said the 72 of 82 Supreme Court judges voted not to nominate the candidates while four judges voted to make the nomination. Six other judges abstained. The votes were conducted at a meeting Supreme Courts judges on Wednesday after Suchon asked the court to nominate the judges for two EC positions vacant after one commissioner died and another resigned. Wirat said he would forward the courts decision to Suchon.
