Sittichai's king of the mountain

[MOUNTAIN BIKES] Sittichai Ketkaewmanee proved he is the best local mountain bike rider when he won the overall downhill title in the Maxrider Cup at the Bonanza Khao Yai resort on Sunday.
In the highlight of the one-day event, Sittichai, a five-time Thailand champion, did not let his supporters down. The speedy rider showed superb skills to win the downhill event and pocket the Bt1,000 in prize money plus a trophy and a round-trip domestic ticket from Air Asia. "I think the first two curves of the course were the toughest part," he said. "They were sharp and very steep. I had to stand on the bike most of the time and I found it very difficult to keep my balance," added Sittichai, a silver medallist at the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur five years ago. "However, I'm satisfied with my performance. I just recovered from an injury I suffered during a tournament in Phuket." Second place went to Ratthapong Susamathiyakorn, while Pichet Puengraeng had to be content with third. The competition was the biggest downhill event ever held in the country.
