Students call off anti-EC rally
The Students Federation has decided to call off a mass rally today to push for the removal of the three remaining Election Commission commissioners.
Federation secretary-general Kotchawan Chaibut said removing the EC commissioners was an uphill battle because there were influential figures pulling the strings behind the commission. "We have been pressuring them to quit but they are not ashamed and show no responsibility. To successfully oust the EC, we must carry this out under the legal process [not a street protest]," she said. Kotchawan said the EC was closely linked with the Thai Rak Thai Party. The two organisations had been supporting each other to hold on to their power.
